Mercedes Jaskolka
Mercedes Jaskolka is a ceramicist, pottery teacher, and yoga teacher.
Mercedes’ was drawn to the tactile, grounding, and elemental nature of ceramics as a way to find balance while working in a corporate job. Much like the students she now teaches, she started by taking pottery courses in studios across London, which soon led to a devoted practice and a new career working with clay.
Her ceramic pieces represent an ever-evolving understanding and expression of self. Each piece is created intuitively and with curiosity; a silent dialogue between hands and clay.
In her classes, Mercedes encourages students to embrace play and find joy in working with clay. She also aims to cultivate mindfulness through the act of creating, inviting her students to experience pottery as a meditative practice. By sharing her own journey, she demonstrates that anyone can learn and master a new skill at any stage of life.
She is the founder of social enterprise, Flow and Throw, which combines mindful movement and mindful creativity in yoga and pottery. Flow and Throw also seeks to break down access barriers in the arts and wellness spaces for people from marginalised backgrounds.
Mercedes is a 200hr qualified yoga teacher. She is currently instructing taster sessions and courses at Ceramics Classes London.
